Overtime, Night and Holiday Pay

Korean law adds 50% (sometimes 100%) to your hourly wage for extra hours.

The rules (workplaces with 5 or more employees)

TypePay
Overtime (over 8 hours a day or 40 a week)150% of hourly wage
Night work (22:00 to 06:00)Extra 50% on top of the pay for those hours
Holiday work, up to 8 hours150%
Holiday work, over 8 hours200%

The premiums stack. One hour of overtime at night is paid 100% + 50% (overtime) + 50% (night) = 200%. In this calculator, enter night hours separately even if they are also overtime hours, because the night premium is added on top.

Example: hourly wage 10,320 won, 4 overtime hours of which 2 are at night → overtime 4 × 15,480 = 61,920 won, night premium 2 × 5,160 = 10,320 won, total 72,240 won.

Fewer than 5 employees

The extra 50% or 100% premiums do not apply. You are still paid your normal hourly wage for every hour you work.
